Summer Beach Runs Are Back!

Ready for some sweaty, sandy fun in the sun? Grab your sunnies and lace up your sneakers, because the summer beach run series is back, baby!

As in past years, these beach runs will take place every Tuesday on Siesta Beach. The first run will take place on June 8 and the final one is on July 27 — and, as always, they’re free. The kids 1-mile run begins at 6:30 p.m.; adults start at 7 p.m and will participate in a slightly different run each week — details below.

Now, although the event is free and open to the public, participants (both children and adults) will need to register at the Siesta Key pavilion, near the kids’ playground off the south entrance to the beach, so make sure to arrive early enough to get signed in.

While the beach runs themselves will feel familiar to many of our members, it’s true that times have changed since we last gathered in 2019. Please keep in mind that social distancing will be required, and masks should be worn when social distancing isn’t possible. Staff and volunteers will be masked up, and, for the kids’ run, colored cards will be given out to help encourage social distancing among runners.

Make an Impact — Volunteer!

Looking for a fun way to give back to your club and community? We need volunteers to help register kids and adults for the runs, help with staggered start of the kids run, help with putting out water for the kids run, and help with distributing beverages and possibly food for the adult run. Anyone helping with registration needs to wear a mask, and anyone serving beverages or food need to wear a mask and gloves.

Interested in helping out, or want to learn more? Email Jennifer Gallagher at mtcsecretary@mtc.org or show up around 5:30 on Tuesday, 6/8.
