Be a Volunteer!

Looking for a way to help your community? Volunteer with the Manasota Track Club! The MTC is a non-profit organization that helped raise over $222,000 in 2019 through various local races and awarded $10,000 in scholarships to high school seniors. Our volunteers are the core of MTC. Volunteer opportunities include packet pick-up, race course monitors, committee members and training programs. Without the time and talents of all of our volunteers, our club would not be able to fulfill our mission and support this amazing community.

Our 700+ members assist at more than a dozen events throughout the community every year, volunteering to serve as race directors, showing up early to set up, manning the water stations, recording time cards at the finish line, posting the results, and taking on countless other duties that make it possible for our racing events (and our club) to run so smoothly!

Our Volunteer of the Month Program* serves to recognize the outstanding volunteer efforts of our members. We have developed a point system based on volunteer activity. Your volunteer hours will be recorded and updated monthly for recognition on the website. (*Keep an eye out for this program post-pandemic, when more in-person events are permitted!)

Each year, before our awards banquet, a committee will also select the “Volunteer of the Year.”  This award will not be based solely on the “most” volunteer points accumulated, but on other factors including the types of duties the individual has taken on, contributions they’ve made to our club and community as a whole, how long they’ve been a volunteer, and more.

Volunteer Award Program Details

 Earning Volunteer Points

Points will be awarded, per event, to MTC member volunteers according to the following positions:

• Board Member with additional duties :  15 points
• MTC Race Consultant:  10 points
• Board Member: 10 points
• BBR Race Director: 10 points
• BBR or other Committee Chair: 5 points
• Race Volunteer: 1 point
• Miscellaneous Support: Points as appropriate

Program Rules

• Points will be accumulated throughout the calendar year
• Only MTC members are eligible for volunteer awards
• Volunteer points will be updated on the website after each event

Volunteer Awards

Volunteer awards are given to members who give their time, energy, and talents to the club and running community. Each year, we recognize a Volunteer of the Year at our annual awards banquet, and will soon be implementing a Volunteer of the Month program where we celebrate MTC volunteers who go above and beyond each month.
