2020-2021 Scholarship Winners
Samantha Bickel
Sarasota High School
Samantha plans to attend Florida State University, Tallahassee. Extra curricula’s include Girls, Inc. (lifeguard), soccer referee, volunteer at Selby, Salvation Army, president of Riverview Fights Cancer club, Coexistence club, employment at Fresh Kitchen. Samantha ran cross country and also played soccer (where she won a “heart and soul” award); she’s also run a number of 5K’s in the community.
Alberto Teijelo
Sarasota High School
Alberto is currently undecided. Extra curricula’s include over 280 hours of volunteering at SMH, Coast Life Church, Chamber Orchestra, and employment at Target. MVP of CC team in junior year; also Sun Preps All Star boys Cross Country Runner of the Year. MVP in CC senior year and was first at districts and regionals including a 15:49 at regionals. Personal bests of 10:04 in 3200 and 2:04 in 800.
Kasumi Wade
Riverview High School
Kasumi plans to attend Tufts University, Boston. Extra curricula’s include editor of school newspaper, Model UN, UNICEF, Director of A Chance to Run. MVP in Riverview CC and Track in 2017-18. Member of Sarasota FHSAA state championships runner up CC team; team captain 20-21. Best of HT Preps Cross Country All Stars Girls 1st Team 2018 and 2019.
Marissa Kempf
Sarasota High School
Marssa plans to attend Flagler College, St. Augustine. Extra curricula’s include DARE, VP of Spanish Club, Orchestra (violin), and Latin Club. Volunteer hours include A Chance to Run. Freshman of the Year in CC and Track. Team placed runner up in CC state championships, on state qualifying 4 X 800 relay, HT Preps All-Area team in CC, honorable mention in track; winning team at Gatorade Blue Race at Great American Cross Country Festival. Co-captain of CC in senior year.
Robert Stiff
Sarasota High School
Roberts plans to attend Flagler College, St. Augustine. Extra curricula’s include Junior Law Academy, Orchestra, A Chance to Run, and employment at Fit 2 Run. Ran cross country and track all four years. Competed in state CC meet and FACA Senior All Star race placing 5th with a PR of 16:26. Personal best of 10:13 in the 3200 meters, 4:58 in 1600.
