IT IS TIME to nominate your running friends for the recognition they deserve!

Between now and December 5th, we ask you to nominate your fellow MTC members for the five following categories. Please share a sentence or two explaining why you feel they are deserving of the honor.  You are absolutely welcome to nominate the same person for multiple categories.  The nominations will be reviewed by a committee of board and general members and the winners will be announced during the awards segment of our annual banquet, to be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the Sarasota Event Center.

Nominate your fellow members for any of the following awards:

Male Runner of the Year: Nominees must possess a sincere and genuine attitude toward the sport of running, compassion and interest in fellow runners’ efforts and commitment to the Manasota Track Club and our community.  It is not necessarily the fastest or strongest runner.

Female Runner of the Year:  Nominees must possess a sincere and genuine attitude toward the sport of running, compassion and interest in fellow runners’ efforts and commitment to the Manasota Track Club and our community.  It is not necessarily the fastest or strongest runner.

Volunteer of the Year: Consistent volunteer, serving in many roles, tasks and levels of responsibility for the club.  Quality and quantity of time is a strong consideration as well as the level of enthusiasm and encouragement this person brings to our fellow members.

Comeback Runner of the Year: Nominee must have recovered from an injury or illness, problems of a personal nature related to absence from the club and running.

Bill McKenzie Unsung Hero Award: Nominee must be a dedicated club member who quietly performs a task in an exceptional manner who would not normally be recognized for this effort.

JOHN TINGLE – AL PETZ MEMORIAL AWARD: MTC’s most prestigious award, with special significance placed on MTC members who have exhibited unique and outstanding performance in the activities of the club and who have been outstanding and dedicated citizens possessing high community values. The nominee must: be a member in good standing with at least five year’s previous membership, a present or former officer or board member, has worked in a major volunteer capacity for the club, is or has been a dedicated runner, has had involvement on committees and club projects and is a FREQUENT volunteer.
